Karla’s second album after “Is This A Cool World Or What?” was to be called “Incognito.” For this recording, Karla reunited the band from her Cool World Tour in NYC: Russ Shirley and Jeff Southworth on guitar, Jim Ryan on bass, and Robert Medici on drums. Keyboard player Jim Lang was on another tour, so Karla called Sterling Smith, an old friend who worked with The Beach Boys. Sterling played on Karla’s first demos, (originating the catchy keyboard riff that begins “Is This A Cool World or What?”).
When Karla moved to LA and changed recording labels, a new creative team produced her second released album “Wake ‘Em Up In Tokyo.”
Tracks from the originally proposed “Incognito” album – reflecting the lighthearted style of “Cool World” – survived the intervening decades on demo cassettes. Here is the unreleased title track to the album that was to be “Karla DeVito Incognito.” Co-written with Karla’s talented “Cool World” collaborator, Danny Lawson.
